Göttingen 7th Grade English Reading Contest 2016

This year’s 7^th Grade English Reading Contest took place on the 14^th June. The contestants were Elisabeth (HG), Eric (FKG) and Lea (OHG). Together with their teachers and some friends, Eric and Lea came to the HG where the contest was held. All three contestants read really well. In the end, it was a tight decision.

Before the contest started, the readers had drawn lots in order to find out who would read 1^st (2^nd, and 3^rd). Elisabeth was the first. She started round one by reading a part from the novel “Jerry”. Eric, the second reader, read a short story called “Nice Camera” and Lea read a few pages taken from “Gone”.

In the second round, the three of them read the story “Hang out with us instead”, which was divided into three parts. The order was the same as in the first round. Although the contestants didn’t know the story, they read very well.

After the second round, the jury (Ms Alberdings for the OHG, Ms Brenner for the FKG and Ms Brumby-Hartogh for the HG) discussed how the three readers had read. It was hard for them to decide but in the end, they came to a decision. The 1^st place went to Eric and Lea, the 2^nd place went to Elisabeth. Congratulations! Now, the readers could choose their book prizes.
